Services provided by Douglas Hogue Farrier Service are the following:

1. Pre-purchase evaluation: Before you buy a new horse (I know he's the greatest horse in the world and the owner guarantees him) I will be glad to come out and do an evaluation of the horse.

2. Support Local Events: If you or your organization would like to have an on-site farrier during an event, please notify me two weeks in advance and I will be happy to support.

3. Support Distant Events: Given enough notification and need for my presence, I will also be happy to attend more distant events.

4. Instruction for Youths/Youth Groups: I have in the past and would be glad to do so again, give classes demonstrating proper hoof care and shoeing.

5. On-Site Shoeing for Business Promotions:  If you have an equine affiliated business that would like an on-site farrier during promotions, I will be glad to set up for the day.

6. Consultation with Veterinarians:  As a horse owner you must understand that you are one part of your own "horse team." The second part is the veterinarian and the last is the farrier.  All parts of this team must work together to ensure the health and happiness of the horse.  It is not abnormal for a veterinarian to require the presence of the farrier when an injury or ailment affects travel or soundness of the horse.  I as the farrier, encourage the owner to ensure the team is working together as well. 

7. Gladly Schedule Appointments Weeks in Advance: Most horse owners have active and busy schedules, as do I, and I will gladly and even encourage the scheduling of appointments well in advance.  I account for the due dates of the horses shoeings so the owner doesn't have to.

8. I Call You: The owners of the horses I shoe do not have to track me down.  I call to schedule appointments and to check on the welfare of the horse.  It is not abnormal to receive a call from me asking about how you and (your horses name here) are doing.  I take pride in my relationships with the owners as well as my familiarity with the horse. I am never far from my phone and will promptly return any missed calls.

9. Gladly Answer Questions:  I am available for consultation by appointment or by phone.  And on weekends as well. 

10. Ornamental Blacksmithing: Upon request, I've been known to build coat racks, hat racks, chili peppers, little cowboys, wine racks, lamp bases, etc.  And I am always willing to try to make new things!
